NIA Conducts Raids in Bihar, Seizes Arms and Over Rs 4 Crore Cash Linked to CPI Maoist

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches in Bihar, uncovering arms and over Rs 4 crore in cash. This operation is part of an investigation into the banned Naxal group, CPI Maoist. According to an official statement, the searches targeted the residences and offices of three suspects involved in funding and supporting CPI Maoist leaders to revive their activities in the Magadh region.

NIA Seizes Arms and Cash in Bihar

Five locations in Bihar's Gaya and Kaimur districts were searched by the NIA. The operation aimed to disrupt the CPI Maoist's plans to strengthen their presence in the Magadh area. The agency's extensive searches resulted in a significant seizure of arms, cash, and incriminating digital devices and documents.

Seizures and Investigations

The NIA recovered 10 weapons of various calibres, Rs 4.03 crore in cash, incriminating documents, and several digital devices during the operation. These findings are part of a broader investigation into a conspiracy case involving CPI Maoist activities in the region.

This case began with the arrest of two CPI Maoist members from Aurangabad district's Goh police station area on August 7 last year. Rohit Rai and Pramod Yadav were apprehended with arms, ammunition, and booklets related to the CPI Maoist Magadh Zonal Sangathnic Committee.

Legal Proceedings and Arrests

The NIA took over the investigation on September 26, 2023, registering a case against 20 individuals. In February this year, Rohit Rai and Pramod Yadav were charged for their involvement in efforts to revive CPI Maoist's declining movement and promote violent activities.

So far, six individuals have been arrested in connection with this case. In March 2024, the NIA filed a supplementary charge sheet against Anil Yadav alias Ankush and CPI Maoist Polit Bureau Member Parmod Mishra. Another accused, Anil Yadav alias Chota Sandep, was named in a second supplementary charge sheet filed in July.

The NIA's ongoing investigation highlights its commitment to curbing Naxal activities in Bihar. By targeting financial and logistical support networks, the agency aims to dismantle efforts to revive CPI Maoist operations in the region.
