NIA Raids Over 100 Locations To Crackdown On Narco-Terror Nexus
The National Investigation Agency conducted raids and searches across more than a 100 locations in six states in connection with the smuggler-gangster nexus case.
The agency conducted raids in Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh. Sources tell OneIndia that the raids are also aimed at cracking down on the nexus between terrorists and narcotic smugglers.

The raids are important as the narcotics trade is assuming dangerous proportions across the world. In India there is a problem of plenty when it comes to narco-terrorism. The drugs that come in from Pakistan eventually land in India, before it is distributed to the rest of the world.
There have been several major drug busts in recent times and the probe has found that the money generated from this trade has always been used to fund terror in the country.
The money generated from this illicit trade is of huge proportions. There are also reports that parts of Pakistan adjoining Afghanistan are being used by the drug traffickers from Pakistan to convert Afghan opium to heroin.
It has also been found that the maritime route is being heavily used by these traffickers. There have been several busts in the ports in Gujarat. The source cited above said that the drugs are sent into the ports in Gujarat following which they are moved to Mumbai. From the financial capital, the drugs are trafficked to other parts of the country.
Another additional problem that the security agencies have faced in recent times is the drugs being dropped in with the help of drones. The drone spotting from across the border have only gone up. The drones are being used to drop off drugs in Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab. Additionally these drones have been dropping off arms and ammunition as well.
