NIA Investigates Terror Link In Tamil Nadu Train Accident
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is investigating the train collision in Tamil Nadu to determine if foul play was involved. The Mysuru-Darbhanga Express collided with a stationary goods train between Ponneri and Kavarapettai stations, about 45 km from Chennai.
The NIA on Saturday sought information from safety officials, and a dog squad inspected the site for any suspicious elements.

The accident resulted in injuries to 19 passengers, but fortunately, no fatalities were reported. Relief efforts are underway, with all passengers safely evacuated. Heavy rain on Saturday complicated rescue operations at the Kavarapettai station site. However, restoration work is expected to be completed by nightfall.
In another incident, an attempt to derail the Bhiwani-Prayagraj Kalindi Express in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur was thwarted. An LPG cylinder was placed on the tracks, but the train came to a halt without injuring any passengers. Authorities have detained 12 individuals and questioned over 100 people regarding this incident.
The NIA has joined the investigation into the Kanpur incident as well. The Kalindi Express was travelling from Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh to Bhiwani in Haryana when it encountered the obstruction on Sunday. The probe aims to uncover any potential conspiracy behind these railway incidents.
Southern Railway General Manager RN Singh commented on the Tamil Nadu collision: "Despite this serious incident, we are fortunate not to have any causality... Nobody is in danger, a few suffered minor fractures and they are getting treatment, all will be discharged from the hospital by evening... By tonight, restoration will be completed."
Efforts continue to restore normalcy at both accident sites while investigations proceed. The authorities remain vigilant in ensuring passenger safety and preventing future incidents.
