NIA in Poonch, drones deployed to probe attack on Army truck: 10 points

A team of the National Investigation Agency is in Poonch to probe the attack on the Indian Army soldiers.

A massive manhunt has been launched to find the terrorists who carried out the attack. Investigations have learnt that at least 7 terrorists carried out the attack on a military truck in Jammu and Kashmir in which five soldiers attached with the Rashtriya Rifles had lost their lives.

Here are the top developments:

• A team of the NIA is in Poonch. The team will include a Deputy Inspector General and Supreintendent of Police. A forensic team will also be part of the team.
• A bomb disposal squad and special operations group of Jammu and Kashmir has also reached the spot.
• A massive search has been launched in the forests of Jammu and Kashmir's Bata-Doriya area to track the terrorists.
• The Army earlier released the list of soldiers who had lost their lives. The deceased soldiers have been identified as havildar Mandeep Singh, lance naik Debashish Baswal, lance naik Kulwant Singh, sepoy Harkrishan Singh and Sepoy Sewak Singh . All were associated with the Rashtriya Rifles.
• The area has been cordoned off. Drones and sniffer dogs have been pressed into action.
• Defence Minister Rajnath Singh was briefed by Army Chief General Manoj Pande on the death of the five soldiers.
• The Army Chief and all ranks of the Indian Army saluted the supreme sacrifice made by the soldiers.
• The probe has found that at least seven terrorists were involved in the attack.
• While the Jaish-e-Mohammad claimed responsibility for the attack, investigations have found that the Lashkar-e-Tayiba may have been behind it.
• The investigation has also found that the attack was staged to disrupt the G20 meeting.
