Toll Rates Revision By NHAI Tied To WPI Impacts Delhi Gurgaon Expressway Dwarka Expressway And Sohna Highway

The NHAI toll rates revision, tied to the Wholesale Price Index, increases charges across the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway, Dwarka expressway, and Sohna highway from April 1. The changes affect cars, trucks, and commuters, with new single-trip, return-trip, and monthly pass costs for key plazas such as Kherki Daula and Bijwasan.

From midnight of March 31, motorists using the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway, Dwarka expressway and Sohna highway face higher toll rates, after a National Highways Authority of India revision that affects cars, buses, trucks, light commercial vehicles and heavy machinery across key Gurugram plazas.

The sharpest impact for many commuters is at Kherki Daula, where the toll for cars, jeeps and vans rises from ₹80 to ₹100 for a single journey, while a return trip on the same day will now cost ₹150, affecting thousands of daily office and inter-city travellers.

NHAI toll rates revision linked to Wholesale Price Index

NHAI officials described the hike as part of the yearly adjustment tied to inflation data. A senior NHAI official said, "The toll fees revision is an annual exercise, and the change is linked with the Wholesale Price Index (WPI). The fee hike will be applicable from April 1," while requesting anonymity.

At Kherki Daula toll plaza, a monthly pass for 50 single trips for regular users is now ₹3,320, and personal vehicles registered within 20 km of the plaza can obtain a local monthly pass for ₹350, while commercial vehicles from within the same district will pay ₹50 per trip for each crossing.

Heavy vehicles using Kherki Daula will also pay more, with trucks and buses charged ₹335 per trip or ₹11,240 for a 50-trip monthly pass, on a plaza that handles around two lakh vehicles daily, of which nearly 70,000 vehicles actually pay toll while others use exempt categories.

Revised toll rates on Dwarka expressway and Sohna highway

On the Dwarka expressway at Bijwasan toll plaza, the car toll has moved from ₹220 to ₹225 per single journey, with return travel rising from ₹330 to ₹340, and car monthly passes shifting from ₹340 to ₹350, while a 50-trip pass now costs ₹7,550 instead of ₹7,360.

Local residents living within 20 km of Bijwasan plaza can buy a monthly pass for ₹350, the same as earlier, while commercial vehicles registered within the district will now pay ₹114 for each trip, and trucks and buses will be charged ₹765 for a one-way journey or ₹1,160 for a return journey.

For trucks and buses registered within the same district as the Bijwasan toll plaza, the revised fee is ₹385 per trip, and officials noted that tolling on the Dwarka expressway started in November last year, with about one lakh vehicles now using the corridor daily, traffic increasing after its link to Urban Extension Road 2 (UER2).

On the Sohna highway, at the Ghamdoj toll plaza, cars, jeeps and vans will pay ₹130 for a one-way trip and ₹195 for a return journey within 24 hours, while light commercial vehicles face a fee of ₹210 per trip, buses and trucks ₹440, heavy machinery ₹690 and oversized vehicles ₹845 per crossing.

Commuters on these Gurugram stretches now need to budget for higher travel costs from April 1, as NHAI’s WPI-based revision reshapes toll expenses for local residents, inter-city travellers, and freight operators across the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway, Dwarka expressway and Sohna highway without any exemptions mentioned in the latest changes.
