Man stabs woman 13 times after marriage proposal rejection
On October 13th, in New Delhi, a shocking incident of violence took place when a 27-year-old man stabbed a woman approximately 13 times. The accused, Gaurav Pal, was unable to handle the rejection from her family regarding his marriage proposal and the subsequent blocking of his number by the woman herself.

The brutal attack occurred on Thursday morning in South Delhi's Lado Sarai area. The victim, a 23-year-old woman sustained around 13 stab wounds on her face, thighs and fingers. According to police reports, she is currently out of danger as confirmed by doctors treating her.
Motive Behind the Attack
In an interrogation with senior police officers, Pal confessed that he was unable to cope with denial after the woman blocked his phone number. He revealed that he had been suffering from insomnia for three nights prior to committing this horrific act.
Sequence of Events Leading Up To The Attack
Pal had last spoken with the victim on Wednesday around 8 am when she informed him about being at work. She would usually leave for work between 6 am and 6:30 am. On Wednesday night itself she decided to block Pal's phone number which led him into a state of distress. In response to this action taken by her against him; early Thursday morning around 3:30 am, Pal left his home armed with a knife.
Marriage Proposal Rejection Due To Caste Factor
The accused also shared during questioning that two relatives including an uncle had approached the victim’s family last month with his marriage proposal which was rejected due to caste differences as stated by the woman’s mother.
Capture Of The Accused And Legal Proceedings
The assault took place inside a cab in Lado Sarai while the woman was about to commute to her office. The taxi driver, with assistance from other bystanders, apprehended Pal and handed him over to the police. He has been arrested under section 307 - attempt to murder of the Indian Penal Code and is currently in judicial custody.
Victim's Family Demands Strict Action
The victim’s mother on Friday demanded strict action against Pal. She stated that her daughter is still receiving treatment for her injuries and due to swelling on her face, she isn't even able speak at present.
In conclusion, this horrifying incident brings into sharp focus the issues surrounding caste-based discrimination and obsessive behavior leading to violence in India. It is hoped that justice will be served swiftly for the victim and measures are taken by society as well as law enforcement agencies to prevent such incidents from recurring.
