New Coimbatore-Bengaluru train: Luxurious UDAY Express to be flagged-off on June 10

Keeping in mind the comforts of business travellers, new double-decker air-conditioned train - UDAY Express- would be launched between Bengaluru and Coimbatore on June 10. UDAY or Utkrisht Double Decker Air Conditioned Yatri Express will have 40% additional passenger capacity.

Designed by keeping luxury mind, the new UDAY Express will have Wi Fi-based infotainment system, GPS-based passenger information system and diffused LED lighting, among other features.

The train, which was designed at the Carriage Workshop, Perambur, would be flagged-off by Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain.

As per a Financial Express report, the UDAY Express train between Coimbatore and Bengaluru will have 8 double-decker coaches and two power cars.

Salem Divisional Railway Manager U. Subba Rao on Friday inspected the preparedness of the coaches of the double-decker Uday Express at the Coimbatore Junction yard. Reports say that the train was ready to be launched well before Karnataka Assembly elections, which was held on May 12, but had to be held back becasue of poll code which prohibits government to lauch any new schemes.

To display the upcoming destination and other passenger information, the coaches of the UDAY Express would have LCD screen. The train, which is fully a chaircar, would be able to attain speed up to 160 kmph.

The distance of 378 kilometers between Bengaluru and Coimbatore would be covered in 7 hours by the UDAY Express. Some of the stations where train would halt are Tiruppur, Erode, and Salem. The train would run on all week days except Monday. According to Financial Express report, will depart from Coimbatore at 5:40 AM in the morning and reach Bengaluru at 12:40 PM. On its return journey, the train woould leave Bengaluru at 2:15 PM and reach Coimbatore by 9:00 PM.
