New Delhi: In a significant milestone in the city government's efforts to improve public transport accessibility, Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot on Sunday flagged off a bus on a new route connecting Bawana village in northwest Delhi to Rithala metro station.

Later, at an event in Bawana to honor Pawan Sehrawat, who was part of the gold medal-winning kabaddi team at the Asian Games, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also spoke about the new bus route. He emphasized the government's commitment to improving rural connectivity and highlighted the importance of the 990C bus route in connecting Bawana and nearby areas to the Rithala metro station.

Kejriwal: No Government Has Paid as Much Attention to Villages as AAP

Kejriwal said that in the past 75 years, no government has paid as much attention to villages and rural areas as the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government. He highlighted the deployment of several buses in rural areas in the last two to three years and asserted that the government is not concerned about making money from public transport but ensuring the convenience of the people.

Kejriwal Assures Resolution of Pension Issue for DTC Retirees

Addressing the issue of delay in payment of pension to retired employees of the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), who have been protesting over the issue, Kejriwal said he is personally working for the resolution of the problem. He expressed sadness over the fact that senior citizens have to protest for their pensions and assured that he has asked for the pension files and will ensure that pensions are disbursed very soon.
