Gyanvapi Case: Verdict Deferred, Hearing Transferred To New Bench

The Chief Justice of the Allahabad Court Pritinker Diwakar will hear the proceedings of the Gyanvapi case today after the proceedings of the case have been suddenly moved to a new bench of the Allahabad Court.

However, the Anjuman Intezamia Masjid committee raised an objection to the transfer of the case citing that it was illegal to transfer the case without any prior notice. Even the legal counsel representing the Muslim parties claimed that the case supposed to be announced today cannot be moved to a new bench without any information. Reacting to this, the Chief Justice said that the matter may be released automatically after a lapse of some time.

New Bench Of Allahabad Court To Hear Plea In Gyanvapi Case

On the other hand, defending the decision of the court proceedings today, opponent counsel Advocate Puneet Gupta said that the Chief Justice of the administrative side can withdraw the case if the judgment of the case could not be driven even after an adequate amount of arguments.

Meanwhile, earlier this month, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) conducted its scientific survey of the Gyanvapi complex on August 4 following the Allahabad High Court's order. Besides, the survey of the 'Tahkhana' of the dome was also conducted. The survey was not conducted amid heavy security.

Last year, a videographic survey was conducted in the Gyanvapi complex, situated near the Kashi Vishwanath temple. During this survey, the Hindu side claimed to have found a 'Shivling' inside the mosque premises, while the Muslim side argued that it was merely a fountain.

The application for the scientific survey of the entire Gyanvapi mosque premises was filed by four Hindu women worshippers.
