The earthquake, with a magnitude of 6.4, struck Nepal on Friday night, resulting in a tragic toll of at least 128 lives lost and over 100 people injured. The earthquake's impact was felt as far as Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and the Delhi-NCR region.

This seismic event occurred at 11:47 pm, with its epicenter situated in Lamidanda, Jajarkot, approximately 142 km from Kathmandu and 941 km from New Delhi. Communication links have been disrupted in several parts of Nepal, raising concerns that the casualty count may rise.

Earlier today, Nepal's Prime Minister, Pushpakamal Dahal 'Prachanda,' announced that he was en route to the affected area with a medical team on Saturday morning. Both the Nepal Army and Nepal Police have been mobilized to conduct rescue operations, according to officials.

A statement from the Prime Minister's office on X emphasized, "Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of lives and property in the earthquake on Friday night and has mobilized all three security bodies for immediate rescue and relief."

Officials also reported that the injured are receiving treatment at the Surkhet District Hospital, with the Prime Minister directing security agencies to promptly initiate rescue and relief efforts.
