MBBS Student Among Four Arrested for NEET Exam Cheating in Bharatpur

In a recent crackdown on fraudulent activities surrounding the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), police have apprehended four individuals for their involvement in an impersonation scam. The arrests were made on Monday, following the detention of six suspects the previous day. Among those arrested is Abhishek Gupta, an MBBS student from a government college, who was caught appearing in the NEET examination for another aspirant, Suraj Gurjar, at the Master Adityendra School examination centre located in the Mathura Gate police station area.

NEET Cheating: Four Arrested

The orchestration of this deceit involved Gupta's college mate, Ravikant alias Ravi Meena, who arranged for Gupta to act as a dummy candidate for Suraj Gurjar. The deal, struck by Suraj's brother Rahul Gurjar with Ravikant, was pegged at Rs 10 lakh, with an advance payment of Rs 1 lakh already exchanged. Bharatpur Superintendent of Police Mridul Kachawa disclosed that four out of the six individuals detained in connection with this case have been arrested, including Gupta, Ravikant, Suraj Gurjar, and Rahul Gurjar.

The remaining two suspects, identified as Amit alias Bunty and Dayaram, are currently under interrogation and are expected to be arrested shortly due to their suspicious involvement in the case. Following his arrest, Gupta was presented before a court which remanded him to three days of police custody. Superintendent Kachawa further revealed that Ravikant is already facing charges of cheating in a separate case registered at Ajmer's Kotwali police station.

This incident sheds light on the persistent issue of impersonation and fraud in competitive examinations across the country. The authorities remain vigilant in their efforts to uphold the integrity of such exams, which play a crucial role in determining the future of many young aspirants. The swift action taken by the police in this particular case underscores their commitment to ensuring fairness and transparency in the examination process.
