NEET 2017: Madras HC says no to 85% reservation for medical admissions
The Tamil Nadu government had filed an appeal after the court quashed its order reserving 85 per cent seats for state students
The Madras High Court on Monday upheld an order quashing 85 per cent reservation in medical admissions for state board students. The move comes as a massive relief to CBSE students in Tamil Nadu. The court dismissed the Tamil Nadu government's appeal challenging the quashing of reservation to state board students.
While quashing the appeal, the High Court held that untalented teachers in State Board schools were the reason for less pass percentage in NEET 2017 and it was unfair to reserve up to 85 per cent seats for students from the state board. The court also directed the Tamil Nadu government to conduct medical admissions without further delay.
