NCRTC Engages School Students with Namo Bharat Train Rides for Sustainable Transport Awareness
The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has launched an innovative student outreach programme, inviting school students to experience rides on the Namo Bharat trains. This initiative aims to boost awareness among the younger generation about the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) and its benefits for the National Capital Region (NCR).

Through this programme, students have had the opportunity to board the state-of-the-art Namo Bharat trains, providing them with firsthand experience of the advanced technology and comfort these trains offer. The initiative emphasizes the significance of adopting sustainable and efficient transportation solutions within the NCR.
The success of this initiative is evident from the active participation of students from across the NCR in various educational activities. These activities are designed to familiarize them with the RRTS corridor and include school visits, knowledge sessions, painting competitions, and street plays, alongside the highlight of experiencing train rides on the Namo Bharat.
Understanding the crucial role children play as ambassadors for societal initiatives, NCRTC has focused on making this awareness programme engaging and interactive. A painting competition themed around the project and interactive video sessions were organized to deepen their understanding. The programme concluded with a street play that effectively communicated key messages related to the project.
These outreach efforts have provided a platform for students to learn about the RRTS project creatively and expressively. NCRTC's goal is to cultivate curiosity and participation among students, fostering a sense of ownership and enthusiasm for adopting Namo Bharat trains as a preferred mode of transport in the future.
Currently, a 34-km section between Sahibabad and Modi Nagar North of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor, encompassing eight stations, is operational for passengers. Construction on the remaining stretches is progressing rapidly, with expectations for the entire 82-km corridor to be operational by 2025.
