NCP Sets Stage for Maharashtra Assembly Elections, Prioritizes Organizational Strength
In a strategic move, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), led by Ajit Pawar, has announced its plans to commence preparations for the Maharashtra assembly elections ahead of the Lok Sabha elections conclusion. During a press conference, Sunil Tatkare, the state unit president, highlighted the party's initiative to fortify its organizational structure throughout Maharashtra through district-wise assessments.

Tatkare also revealed that numerous leaders from different political factions are expected to join the NCP on Monday, indicating a potential shift in the state's political landscape. This announcement comes at a time when the NCP is actively participating in the state's ruling coalition alongside BJP and Shiv Sena. An essential gathering is scheduled for May 27, under Ajit Pawar's leadership, where several notable figures are anticipated to join the party. Tatkare expressed confidence that this development would significantly alter political dynamics both nationally and within Maharashtra.
The conversation also touched upon the demand by Sharadchandra Pawar's faction of the NCP for a re-election in the Beed Lok Sabha constituency. Tatkare dismissed these calls as untimely, pointing out that such demands should have been made immediately following the polling, rather than weeks later. He suggested that this demand stems from an anticipation of defeat in the electoral contest between BJP’s Pankaja Munde and NCP SP’s Bajrang Sonawane in Beed.
This series of strategic moves and statements by the NCP underscores a dynamic period in Maharashtra's political scene, with potential shifts in alliances and power structures on the horizon. As the party gears up for both assembly and Lok Sabha elections, its efforts to strengthen its base and attract new members from other parties could play a crucial role in reshaping its future prospects and influence in the region.
