NCC Republic Day Camp 2024: Over 2,000 Cadets to Showcase Unity and Diversity in New Delhi
The NCC Republic Day Camp 2024 in New Delhi will bring together 2,274 cadets, including a record number of 907 girl cadets, to showcase the unity and diversity of India. The camp will feature a band comprising 45 girls from the Northeast, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of the region and the NCCs reach across the country.
New Delhi, January 3: The National Cadet Corps (NCC) Republic Day Camp 2024 in New Delhi will witness the participation of 2,274 cadets, including a significant number of girl cadets. This year's camp will showcase the increased enrolment and active involvement of girls in the NCC.

Enhanced Participation of Girl Cadets
Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh, Director General of the NCC, highlighted the steady rise in the enrolment of girl cadets in the NCC. This year's camp will feature 907 girl cadets, reflecting their growing enthusiasm and dedication to the organization.
Diverse Representation
The camp will bring together cadets from all corners of the country, including 122 cadets from Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh UTs, and 177 from the Northeast. Additionally, cadets and officers from 25 friendly countries will participate in the camp under the Youth Exchange Programme, fostering international understanding and cooperation.
Varied Competitions and Activities
The NCC R-Day Camp will feature various competitions, including the selection of the best contingent, best cadet, and best horse riding performance. These competitions aim to showcase the skills, discipline, and teamwork of the cadets.
Modernizing NCC Training
Lt Gen Singh emphasized the importance of adapting NCC training to contemporary needs. The NCC is currently revising its syllabus to include relevant topics such as drone operation, life skills enhancement, and the use of GPS and satellite imagery for map reading.
Infrastructure Improvement and Welfare
The NCC is committed to improving its training infrastructure and ensuring the welfare of its staff. Efforts are being made to provide cadets with access to the latest equipment and facilities, while also prioritizing the well-being of NCC personnel.
Platform for Cultural Exchange
The NCC R-Day Camp serves as a platform for cadets from different states and Union Territories to interact, share their experiences, and learn about each other's cultures, fostering national unity and understanding.
Steady Increase in Girl Cadet Enrolment
The NCC has witnessed a consistent increase in the enrolment of girl cadets over the years. In 2019, girl cadets comprised 33% of the total strength, which rose to 34% in 2020, 35% in 2021, and now stands at 39% in 2023. Some states in the Northeastern regions and Kerala have achieved close to 50% enrolment of girl cadets.
Benefits of Agniveer Scheme for NCC Cadets
The NCC DG highlighted the advantages of the Agniveer scheme for NCC cadets. Cadets who participate in the Agniveer scheme receive bonus marks, and those who wish to pursue different careers after their Agniveer tenure have the flexibility to do so.
Promoting Mental Well-being
To ensure the sound mental health of cadets, the NCC conducts leadership capsules, case studies, and adventure activities. Physical activities and yoga sessions are also incorporated into the training program. External agencies provide training on personality development and leadership skills.
