National Conference Demands Immediate Arrest of Mahant Narsinghanand for Remarks on Prophet Muhammad
The National Conference (NC) has criticised Yati Narsinghanand's remarks about Prophet Muhammad, urging his immediate arrest. The controversial priest's comments have reportedly hurt the sentiments of Muslims, leading to protests in Ghaziabad and other regions. Narsinghanand faces charges for hate speech due to these remarks.

Imran Nabi Dar, NC's spokesperson for Jammu and Kashmir, expressed concern over the impact of such statements. "They have deeply wounded the sentiments of Muslims both in India and around the world," he stated. Dar emphasised that these comments damage India's image as a nation of religious harmony and could incite communal unrest.
Religious Bodies Demand Action
The Mutahida Majlis Ulema (MMU), a coalition of religious organisations in Kashmir, also condemned Narsinghanand's statements. They demanded his immediate arrest, highlighting the unacceptable nature of such blasphemous remarks. The MMU accused individuals like him of intentionally provoking and spreading hate to incite communal violence.
The MMU, led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, stressed that these actions are intolerable to Muslims and those who respect religious figures. They pointed out that despite his history as a hate monger, Narsinghanand remains free on bail, raising concerns about the authorities' commitment to maintaining communal harmony.
Calls for Accountability
Dar urged the government to ensure swift justice for those responsible for inflammatory remarks. He called on people to stay calm and not let such divisive figures disrupt societal peace and unity. The MMU echoed this sentiment, demanding Narsinghanand's arrest and bail cancellation to uphold the sanctity of their faith.
Apni Party president Altaf Bukhari also called for severe punishment for Narsinghanand. In a post on X, Bukhari stated that merely arresting him is insufficient. He insisted that the government must ensure Narsinghanand faces serious consequences for his derogatory remarks against Islam's Prophet.
Ensuring Communal Harmony
Bukhari highlighted the importance of holding accountable anyone who threatens India's secular fabric by hurting religious sentiments. He described Narsinghanand's comments as deeply offensive and a threat to communal harmony, stressing the need for exemplary punishment.
The NC and other organisations continue to demand accountability for those making inflammatory statements. They stress the importance of maintaining peace and unity while ensuring justice is served to prevent further discord.
