Nayab Singh Saini was ceremoniously sworn in as the Chief Minister of Haryana for the second time on October 17, 2024, during a grand event held in Panchkula.

The ceremony was attended by prominent figures including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, among other key leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Prior to the oath-taking ceremony, Saini, a prominent leader from the Other Backward Classes (OBC), paid his respects by offering prayers at the Valmiki Temple in Panchkula, coinciding with the celebration of Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti. This act of devotion was seen as particularly significant amid the backdrop of recent political narratives regarding reservations.

The swearing-in ceremony attracted around 50,000 attendees, featuring extensive security measures and 14 LED screens to accommodate the public. Guests included opposition leaders, farmers, and representatives from various social organizations, emphasizing the inclusivity of the event.

Following his swearing-in, Saini is expected to expand his cabinet with the induction of 10 MLAs. BJP sources suggest that names such as Krishan Lal Panwar, Ranbir Gangwa, Rao Narbir Singh, and Mahipal Dhanda are likely to be included. The Haryana Council of Ministers is permitted to have a maximum of 13 members, including the Chief Minister, according to Article 164 (1A) of the Indian Constitution.

The day after his oath-taking, a meeting of chief ministers and deputy CMs from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will convene to discuss national development issues and strategize for the upcoming Maharashtra and Jharkhand elections. This conclave will feature 13 chief ministers and 16 deputy CMs, aiming to solidify the coalition's position ahead of the elections while reflecting on significant historical events, such as the 50th anniversary of the Emergency.

In light of the event, the Chandigarh administration has declared the city a "no-flying zone" for drones and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from October 16 to 18, with exceptions made for law enforcement agencies and authorized personnel.

Saini's return as Chief Minister comes after his earlier appointment in March this year, during which he succeeded Manohar Lal Khattar. As he steps back into the role, Saini's leadership and vision will be pivotal in shaping the future of Haryana amidst a rapidly evolving political landscape.
