Nayab Singh Saini Sworn In As Haryana Chief Minister, Floor Test Likely Tomorrow
Shortly after Manohar Lal Khattar and his cabinet tendered their resignations, BJP leader Nayab Singh Saini was sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Haryana on Tuesday.

"I want to thank PM Modi, party president JP Nadda, Union HM Amit Shah, and other senior leaders of the party for giving me this responsibility. We will work for the development of the state. We have asked the Speaker to conduct the floor test tomorrow at around 11 am, in the Vidhan Sabha. We have informed the Governor about the support of 48 MLAs," said new Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini.
The new cabinet includes Kanwar Pal Gurjar, Mool Chand Sharma, Ranjit Singh Chautala, Jai Prakash Dalal, and Dr. Banwari Lal, among others. Each minister brings a wealth of experience and expertise to their respective portfolios, ensuring a well-rounded leadership team.
Khattar's resignation on Tuesday came amidst apparent rifts within the ruling coalition of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Jannayak Janata Party. He submitted his resignation to Governor Bandaru Dattatreya at Raj Bhawan prior to the BJP's legislative party meeting.
A BJP central delegation, comprising Union Minister Arjun Munda and former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, visited the state to oversee the developments.
The BJP's alliance with the JJP, led by Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala, soured when they were unable to reach a seat-sharing agreement in the state for the Lok Sabha elections.
Despite the rift with the JJP, the BJP claims to have enough seats to maintain a majority. Currently, the BJP holds 41 seats in the 90-member House, while the JJP has 10. The ruling coalition also enjoys the support of six to seven independent MLAs. The principal opposition party, Congress, holds 30 seats, while the Indian National Lok Dal and Haryana Lokhit Party each have one seat.
Who Is Nayab Singh Saini?
Nayab Singh Saini, an OBC and the MP from Kurukshetra, was elected as the state president of the Haryana BJP in October last year.
Saini's association with the BJP dates back to 1996 when he joined the Haryana BJP's organizational structure and served alongside the state general secretary until 2000. He progressed within the party, becoming the district general secretary of the BJP Youth Wing in Ambala in 2002, and later, the district president in 2005.
His dedication to the party led him to hold several key positions, including state general secretary of the BJP Kisan Morcha in Haryana in 2009 and district president of Ambala BJP in 2012.
