Navjot Kaur Sidhu Gets Rs 850 Crore Notice Over Husband's Cancer Treatment Claims
Navjot Kaur Sidhu, wife of Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu, has been served a Rs 850 crore notice by the Chhattisgarh Civil Society (CCS) after he claimed that a traditional treatment cured the disease, Business Standard reported.
During a press conference on November 21, Navjot Singh Sidhu claimed that certain remedies helped his wife overcome Stage 4 cancer after doctors had given her only "40 days" to live. He linked cancer to "inflammation," attributing it to foods like milk, wheat, refined maida, and sugar. He suggested that eliminating these from the diet could kill cancer cells.

Dr Kuldeep Solanki has demanded evidence from Navjot Kaur Sidhu to substantiate these claims within a week. He warned of legal consequences if she fails to provide proof. Solanki also urged her to clarify her stance publicly and hold a news conference if she lacks the necessary medical documentation.
Medical Community's Response
Sidhu's assertions have sparked controversy among medical professionals. The Director of Tata Memorial Hospital, Dr C S Pramesh, addressed these claims in a statement on X. He noted that parts of the video suggest avoiding dairy and sugar while consuming turmeric and neem as cures for 'incurable' cancer. However, he emphasized that there is no high-quality evidence supporting these ideas.
The civic society has requested Navjot Kaur Sidhu to clarify her husband's statements. They stressed that any "misrepresentation" could jeopardize other patients' health. The CCS is concerned about the potential harm caused by spreading false information regarding cancer treatments.
In response to the backlash, Navjot Singh Sidhu issued a clarification on X. He stated, "I want to say that a doctor is like God to me, and doctors have always been my priority. I have a doctor (Navjot Kaur Sidhu) at home. Whatever we have done was done with the consultation of doctors in a collaborative process."
The controversy highlights the importance of relying on scientifically proven treatments for serious illnesses like cancer. It underscores the need for caution when discussing alternative therapies without solid evidence.
