Odisha's Naveen Patnaik Sets Campaign Trail for Upcoming Elections from April 24
As the political landscape heats up in Odisha with the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, key figures from the major political parties are gearing up to make their presence felt across the state. Naveen Patnaik, the Chief Minister of Odisha and president of the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD), is set to kick off his campaign from April 24, starting from Hinjili, his home constituency in Ganjam district. This move comes just a day before Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to lead the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) first election rally in Sonepur, marking a significant moment in the election campaign trail.

Patnaik's campaign itinerary includes a public meeting in Hinjili on the first day, followed by a rally in Rayagada on April 25. Notably, apart from Hinjili, Patnaik will also contest from the Kantabanji assembly seat, highlighting the strategic importance of these regions in the electoral battle. Meanwhile, the Congress party is not far behind in its campaign efforts. Ajoy Kumar, the Odisha in-charge for Congress, announced that Rahul Gandhi is expected to visit Salepur on April 28, with further plans for him to campaign in Rayagada and Berhampur to strengthen the party's prospects along the coastal belt of Odisha.
In addition to Gandhi's campaign, Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Priyanka Gandhi have been requested to hold rallies in Bolangir and Nabarangpur respectively. Priyanka Gandhi's visit is scheduled for May 6, followed by Kharge's campaign activities the next day. On the BJP front, Odisha BJP president Manmohan Samal detailed Amit Shah's itinerary, which includes a public meeting in Sonepur on April 25 after his arrival at Jharsuguda. Post Sonepur, Shah is set to strategize with senior BJP functionaries in Bhubaneswar. This series of meetings and rallies comes after an unsuccessful alliance negotiation between BJD and BJP.
The political fervor in Odisha is further intensified with announcements of upcoming visits by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP president J P Nadda, and other senior leaders to address public meetings across the state. These developments underscore the high stakes involved in the Odisha elections, with each party deploying its top leaders to woo voters and consolidate their electoral base.
The strategic deployment of party heavyweights across Odisha reflects the importance of these elections in shaping the political landscape of the state. As parties intensify their campaigns, it remains to be seen how these efforts will influence voter sentiment and ultimately, the election outcomes.
