Industrialist Naveen Jindal and Ranjit Chautala Join BJP for Lok Sabha Seats
In a significant political development on March 24, New Delhi/Chandigarh witnessed the joining of industrialist and former Congress MP Naveen Jindal, along with independent MLA from Haryana, Ranjit Chautala, to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Both were promptly announced as the party's candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Kurukshetra and Hisar seats in Haryana, respectively.

Ranjit Chautala, aged 78, currently serves as a minister in the BJP-led Haryana government. He is the son of former deputy prime minister Devi Lal and brother to Om Prakash Chautala, the chief of Indian National Lok Dal and former chief minister of Haryana. On the other hand, Naveen Jindal has had a tenure as a Congress MP representing Kurukshetra from 2004 to 2014. Jindal expressed his eagerness to contribute to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for a developed India.
During his induction into the BJP at its Delhi headquarters, Jindal praised the progress India has made under PM Modi's leadership over the past decade, highlighting significant steps like the abrogation of Article 370 and the realization of constructing a Ram temple in Ayodhya. BJP General Secretary Vinod Tawde remarked on Jindal's addition to the party, noting his potential to aid in enhancing India's economy and prosperity. Tawde also acknowledged Jindal's interests in sports and education.
Ranjit Chautala was welcomed into the BJP fold in Sirsa by former MP Ashok Tanwar among other dignitaries. Post joining, Chautala lauded PM Modi's visionary leadership and committed to working towards a clean sweep for the BJP across all ten seats in Haryana. When queried about resigning from his MLA position due to his new candidacy from Hisar, Chautala mentioned he would soon make a decision.
The announcement of Jindal and Chautala as candidates came alongside four other names for Haryana by the BJP. Following this, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini expressed confidence on social media platform X about securing all ten Lok Sabha seats in Haryana, aligning with PM Modi's goal for India's development by 2047.
Saini also highlighted that Chautala's experience would fortify the party and benefit from his political insights. He warmly welcomed Jindal into the BJP family, recognizing him as a prominent industrialist and a fervent advocate for citizens' right to hoist the national flag.
It is noteworthy that Naveen Jindal is the son of late industrialist and former Haryana minister O.P. Jindal. Ranjit Chautala had previously indicated his openness to contesting in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections if offered a ticket by the BJP. His support was pivotal in 2019 when he was among the first to back the BJP, enabling it to form a government in Haryana after falling short of a majority.
The political landscape in Haryana saw a shift earlier this month when the alliance between BJP and Jannayak Janata Party (JJP), led by Dushyant Chautala and his father Ajay Chautala, came to an end. The BJP had managed a clean sweep in Haryana during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections under this alliance.
Last year's visit by Union Home Minister Amit Shah along with then-chief minister M.L. Khattar to Ranjit Singh Chautala's residence in Sirsa further underscores the strategic importance of these political affiliations leading up to the forthcoming elections.
