PM Modi to Inaugurate National Youth Festival in Nashik

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the National Youth Festival (NYF) in Nashik, Maharashtra. The festival will bring together over a lakh of young people from across the country and will feature a variety of events and activities.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde conducted an inspection of Tapovan Ground in Nashik, the designated venue for the upcoming National Youth Festival (NYF). Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the festival on Friday.

During his visit to Nashik, Prime Minister Modi will offer prayers at the revered Kalaram Temple and visit the Ramkund and Goda Ghat areas. Additionally, he will participate in a roadshow along a designated route.

NYF: A Gathering of Youth

Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Anurag Thakur, addressed the media, stating that over a lakh individuals are expected to attend the NYF event. He emphasized the significance of the festival, describing it as the "Mahakumbh of youths" and highlighted that the Prime Minister will deliver a substantial message to the attendees.

National Youth Day and NYF

January 12 is commemorated as National Youth Day across India, marking the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekanand. The NYF serves as a platform for young individuals from over 750 districts to engage with the Prime Minister. Various programs will be organized nationwide as part of the festival, which will take place from January 12 to 16.

Nashik's Significance

Nashik was chosen as the host city for the NYF due to its rich historical significance. Union Minister Thakur expressed the desire to seek blessings from Lord Ram during the festival.

Youth's Role in Nation Building

Thakur emphasized the role of the youth in shaping India's future. He stated that the young attendees of the NYF will resolve to transform India into a developed nation by 2047. The festival's theme, "for the youth and by the youth," reflects the importance of youth participation in nation building.

India's Sporting Achievements

Speaking on India's bid for the 2036 Olympics, Thakur highlighted the country's recent successes in major sporting events, including the Tokyo Olympics, Paralympics, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, and the historic Thomas Cup victory. He asserted that these achievements serve as evidence of India's growing prowess in sports.

Mallakhamb's Global Potential

Thakur expressed his belief that mallakhamb, a traditional form of gymnastics originating from Maharashtra, has the potential to gain global recognition within the next 15 years. He expressed his personal fondness for the sport.

CM Shinde's Visit to Nashik

Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Shinde visited the Kalaram Temple and conducted inspections of the Godavari river and ongoing city beautification projects.
