Narendra Modi Shatters Indira Gandhi's Record To Become 2nd Longest Serving PM
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has achieved a significant milestone by completing 4,078 consecutive days in office. This surpasses the record of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, who served 4,077 uninterrupted days from January 24, 1966, to March 24, 1977. With this achievement, Modi becomes the second-longest-serving Prime Minister in India's history after Jawaharlal Nehru.
Modi's tenure is marked by several historic distinctions. He is the first and only Prime Minister born after India's Independence. Additionally, he holds the record as the longest-serving non-Congress Prime Minister and the longest-serving leader from a non-Hindi-speaking state. His leadership has seen him complete two full terms and be re-elected twice with a majority.

Historic Achievements
Modi's political journey began in Vadnagar, Gujarat, where he was born into a modest family. He helped his father sell tea at a railway station before rising through the ranks of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and later joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Known for his grassroots connection and strong communication skills, Modi served as Gujarat's Chief Minister for over ten years.
The Prime Minister has also matched Nehru in leading their respective parties to victory in three consecutive Lok Sabha elections. Modi is unique among Indian leaders for winning six consecutive elections as party leader: three in Gujarat (2002, 2007, 2012) and three Lok Sabha polls (2014, 2019, 2024).

Political Journey
In 2014, Modi led the BJP to a historic national victory. Since then, he has positioned himself as an influential global leader. Under his leadership, India has projected itself as a confident and assertive voice on the world stage. His tenure marks nearly 24 years of heading democratically-elected governments at both state and central levels.
Modi is also notable for being the first sitting Prime Minister since Indira Gandhi in 1971 to return to power with a full majority. He remains the only non-Congress leader to secure a majority on his own in the Lok Sabha.
This milestone further solidifies Modi's legacy as one of India's most enduring political figures. His achievements reflect not only his personal journey but also his impact on India's political landscape.
