Narendra Modi releases book on Rashtrapati Bhavan

Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister conveyed his best wishes to Mukherjee who on the day turned 81.

New Delhi, Dec 11 Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday released "Rashtrapati Bhavan: From Raj to Swaraj" and presented the first copy of the book to President Pranab Mukherjee.

Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister conveyed his best wishes to Mukherjee who on the day turned 81.

"Rashtrapati Bhavan: From Raj to Swaraj" is a book for children and recreates the story of Rashtrapati Bhavan from its inception as Government House, a symbol of imperial might, to the present day, where it stands for the very essence of Indian democracy.

To mark the occasion, two more books - "Life at Rashtrapati Bhavan" and "Indradhanush - Volume II" were also released.

Modi recalled Mukherjee's guidance in the initial days of his Prime Ministership, and hoped that the nation would continue to benefit from the President's experience for a long period.

He said it has been his good fortune to have got the opportunity to work with, and learn from him.
