Narayan Sai remand: Gujarat police criticised by court for laxity

police for coming unprepared in court to claim the remand of the rape accused and the self-styled godman

. Dheeraj Mor, the metropolitan magistrate said that the Gujarat police were unable to produce relevant documents for the case.

Blaming the police for its laxity in a high profile case, the court further said that the case diary was also not updated. Among the documents required by the court was a statement by a witness that made the allegations against Narayan Sai's aide Ramesh Malhotra.

However, the Gujarat police blamed the fax machine that was not working. They said to have sent the documents over fax, but it did not reach the court because of a faulty machine. Warning that it would sign the orders if the documents were not provided,the court said,"Technology has become advanced, then also you fail to bring the documents."

Fortunately by evening, the Gujarat police were able to submit scanned copies of the documents to the court.
