Namaz has similar moves as surya namaskar: Rajasthan BJP MP

New Delhi, June 10: After surya namaskar was scrapped from the International Yoga Day celebrations [Centre decides to drop surya namaskar from International Yoga Day drill], a BJP minister from Rajasthan has said that surya namaskar is not a religious activity but a yogic excercise for the entire body.

Vasudev Devnani went on to add that even Namaz had similar moves to surya namaskar.

"Several moves in Namaz are also like surya namaskar, it is not a religious excercise. A lot of Muslim countries practise it," he said.

He further questioned Muslims for worshipping the Moon. He said that in the Muslim community, several customs revolve around seeing the moon. "The sun and the moon are synonymous with each other. If you revere the moon , why hate the sun," he questioned.
