Mysuru court convicts Pakistani terrorist

Upon interrogation, they identified themselves as Pakistani nationals.

A terrorist from Pakistan was convicted under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act in Mysuru. The Principal City Civil and Sessions court, Mysuru sentenced Mohammed Fahad Hai to seven years rigorous imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 10,000.

The court also directed the authorities concerned to confiscate cash worth Rs 44,174 along with the interest accrued, totalling Rs 90,470, from him.

In 2006, two persons were arrested on the charge that they were planning high-profile attacks in Mysuru. When the duo were intercepted by the police one of them tried to escape and even fired at the police officers.

Upon interrogation, they identified themselves as Pakistani nationals. The police say that Mohammed Ali Hussain and Mohammed Fahad Hai alias Mohammed Koya alias Neduthani were illegally residing in Rajiv Nagar in Mysuru.

Enquiry revealed that the duo were active members of the banned Al-Badr organisation and had entered India without valid travel documents. They possessed an AK 47 rifle, pistol and live bullets without any license. They also had mobile and satellite phones.
