Muslim girl from Odisha tops Gita recitation competition
Firdaus learned the slokas at her school as reciting Gita was part of the prayer class.
Bhubaneswar, March 17: Firdaus, a Class I student of Sovaniya Sikhyashram, a residential school, topped a Gita recitation competition held in the coastal town of Kendrapara in Odisha. The competition was held on Wednesday.

Firdaus took part in the sub-junior group (6-14 years) and her mother stood by her during the competition. A total of 46 children took part in the competition. The participants were judged on their ability to memorise slokas, presentation, audience vote, voice and involvement in the recital.
Firdaus learned the slokas at her school as reciting Gita was part of the prayer class. He school headmistress said that Firdaus is a very bright student. "She was way ahead of her competitors and was reciting slokas with ease, without stopping," she said.
Firdau's mother has credited her school for her success.
