Mumbai Traffic Police Implement Changes for Modi and Macron Event on February 17

Mumbai Traffic Police are implementing diversions for the Modi-Macron event on February 17. Expect congestion from 2 PM to 9 PM on major roads due to VVIP movements.

Traffic Police are set to implement diversions and other measures in Mumbai ahead of a significant event. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron will attend this event on Tuesday. Officials have announced that these arrangements aim to manage traffic effectively during the visit.

Macron and Modi will engage in bilateral discussions at Lok Bhavan, Mumbai, around 3:15 PM on February 17. Later, at approximately 5:15 PM, they will inaugurate the India-France Year of Innovation (IFYI) 2026. This event will include business leaders, start-ups, researchers, and innovators from both nations.

Traffic Diversions for VVIP Movement

The event under IFYI is scheduled at the Gateway of India in South Mumbai. Consequently, the Mumbai Traffic Police anticipate congestion on roads near Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Marg, P Ramchandani Marg, B K Boman Bahram Marg, and Mahakavi Bhushan Marg from 2 PM to 9 PM.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Marg will be closed to all vehicles except emergency ones from Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Chowk. Alternative routes include Regal Junction via Shahid Bhagat Singh Marg, Mahakavi Bhushan Road, and Bomen Behram Road.

Alternative Routes and Parking Restrictions

The stretch from Jokhim Alva Chowk to Adam Street junction will also be closed to regular traffic. Vehicles can instead travel from Alva Chowk to Radio Club via P Ramchandani Marg to Haji Niyaz Azmi Road, then proceed to Jagannath Palav Chowk Bhid Bhajan Temple before turning right onto Shahid Bhagat Singh Marg.

The taxi stand and BEST bus stand at Adam Street and P. Ramchandani Marg will not be operational during this period. Additionally, parking restrictions will apply on Nathalal Parekh Road, Jagannath Bhosle Road, Captain Prakash Pethe Road, Rambhau Salgaonkar Road, Shahid Bhagat Singh Road, and B K Boman Behram Road.

A no-parking zone will be enforced behind Hotel Taj from Raobahadur Desai Chowk to Hotel Diplomat. These measures aim to ensure smooth traffic flow during the high-profile visit.
