Man with Criminal Past Fatally Attacked in Mumbai Spa

A 52-year-old man with a long criminal history was killed inside a spa in Worli, Mumbai, early Wednesday morning, according to police. The victim, identified as Guru Waghmare, claimed to be a police informer and a Right to Information activist. He had multiple cases against him, including rape and extortion.

Incident Details

Waghmare, who lived in Vile Parle, was a regular visitor to the Worli Naka spa. On Tuesday evening, he visited the spa with his 21-year-old female friend and three male friends. They requested a birthday party for Waghmare, who had celebrated his birthday on July 17. The group then went to a hotel in Sion for the celebration.

Around 12:30 am, the group returned to the spa. After some time, the three men left while Waghmare and his female friend stayed back. Approximately two hours later, two unidentified men entered the spa and attacked Waghmare with sharp weapons.

Police Response

The Worli police were informed about the incident around 2:30 am. Upon arrival at the scene, they found Waghmare in a pool of blood with his throat slit. A murder case was registered, and Waghmare's four friends were detained for questioning.

Waghmare had at least ten cases registered against him, including a rape case at Mulund police station. The process to extern him from municipal limits had also been initiated at Vile Parle police station.

The investigation is ongoing as police try to identify the attackers and understand the motive behind the murder.
