Eyewitness Describes Mumbai BEST Bus Crash That Left Three Dead and 17 Injured
A tragic incident occurred in Mumbai's Kurla West area on Monday night when a BEST bus collided with multiple vehicles and pedestrians. The crash resulted in three fatalities and 17 injuries. Witnesses reported that the bus swerved erratically over a 200-metre stretch before the collision.

Zaid Ahmed, a local resident aged 26, recounted his experience of the accident. He was heading to the railway station when he heard a loud crash. "I ran to the spot and saw a BEST bus had hit pedestrians, other vehicles, including an autorickshaw and three cars. I saw some dead bodies in front of my eyes. We rescued the passengers in the autorickshaw and took them to Bhabha Hospital in another three-wheeler. My friends also helped in providing relief to the injured," Ahmed recounted.
Bus Details and Route
The bus involved was on route 332, travelling from Kurla to Andheri. It also collided with a police vehicle during the incident. The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport Undertaking's Public Relations Officer, Sudas Sawant, confirmed the crash but withheld further details initially.
Sawant communicated via WhatsApp that complete information was still being gathered by the Bus Control Room. "Kindly note that complete details of the accident are being collected by the Bus Control Room and will be communicated once available," he stated.
Vehicle Specifications and Ownership
The bus was a 12-metre long electric model manufactured by Olectra. It had been leased by BEST under a wet lease agreement. An official mentioned that drivers for these buses are provided by private operators.
According to a Tardeo Regional Transport Office official, the bus was relatively new, having been registered on August 20 this year under EVEY Trans' name.
Efforts are ongoing to gather more information about this unfortunate event as authorities continue their investigation into the cause of the crash.
