Mulayam Singh Yadav's Younger Son Prateek Yadav Dies At 38

Prateek Yadav, the younger son of the late Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav and husband of BJP leader Aparna Yadav, passed away on Wednesday morning in Lucknow at the age of 38. The news has sent shockwaves through the political landscape of Uttar Pradesh, marking a somber chapter for one of India's most prominent political dynasties.

According to reports, Prateek was rushed to Lucknow's Civil Hospital at approximately 6:15 AM after his condition suddenly deteriorated at home. Doctors declared him brought dead upon arrival.

His wife was not present at the time of his admission, as per the reports.

Medical officials have noted that Prateek had been battling chronic health complications for some time, specifically involving a blood clot in his lungs. His condition had reportedly necessitated a stay at Medanta Hospital weeks prior-where he received a visit from his stepbrother and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav-before he was eventually discharged to continue recovery at home.

To confirm the exact cause of death, a panel of doctors at King George's Medical University is scheduled to perform a post-mortem examination, though preliminary observations revealed no visible signs of external injury.

Prateek Yadav was the son of Mulayam Singh Yadav and his second wife, Sadhna Gupta. While his family's name is synonymous with the Samajwadi Party, Prateek famously carved out a life away from the ballot box.

An MBA graduate from the University of Leeds, he established himself as a successful real estate developer and a passionate fitness enthusiast. In 2016, he launched Lucknow's first major gym, and his physical transformation even earned him international recognition on global bodybuilding platforms.

His personal life occasionally drew the spotlight, most notably during his 2011 marriage to Aparna Yadav following an eight-year courtship. The couple have two children but their relationship hit a rough patch and they had filed for divorce.

Prateek had earlier made headlines for a social media post regarding separation, a move the couple ultimately did not follow through with. He also faced political criticism in 2017 over the purchase of a five-crore Lamborghini, which he defended as a transparent personal investment made through legitimate earnings and loans.

Despite his mother and uncle, Shivpal Yadav, reportedly pushing for his entry into politics in 2012, Prateek never contested an election, preferring to focus on his business interests and animal welfare initiatives.
