Rahul Gandhi shared the video on X, criticising the state and central governments. He stated that the chief minister and prime minister should be ashamed for allowing such conditions. Gandhi accused the ruling BJP of creating an illusion of development while neglecting essential services for children.
Authorities Respond to Criticism
BJP leader Ramniwas Rawat and Sub-Divisional Magistrate Abhishek Mishra visited the school in Hullapur, Vijaypur block. They joined the students for a meal served on new stainless steel plates. Mishra reported that the food was properly served during their visit. "Today, our entire team visited the spot and inspected the food. It was found that the meal was properly served on plates. I myself, along with public representatives, also ate the meal there," Mishra told reporters.
The authorities took swift action following the viral video. The contract with the self-help group responsible for preparing meals was terminated. The School Management Committee has now taken over this responsibility to ensure better service. "In the same way, we are monitoring this matter to ensure that no such incident happens again," Mishra added.
Administrative Actions Taken
The school in charge, Bhogiram Dhakad, faced suspension due to this incident. Additionally, notices were issued to two other staff members involved. These steps aim to prevent similar occurrences in the future and improve accountability within the school system.
Rahul Gandhi's post emphasised that these children represent the country's future and deserve dignity. "These are the same innocent children on whose dreams the future of the country rests and they are not even getting a plate of dignity," Gandhi said in his post in Hindi.
The situation has prompted discussions about improving infrastructure and resources in schools across India. Ensuring proper facilities for students is crucial for their well-being and development.
