MP Polls: List Of Ministers Who Lost In 2023 Assembly Elections

Despite the BJP trouncing the Congress in Madhya Pradesh, 12 sitting ministers were defeated by the grand old party in the 2023 Assembly polls.

In the 230-member assembly, the BJP won 163 seats with 48.55 per cent vote share. The Congress bagged 66 seats with a 40.40 per cent vote share while Bharat Adivasi Party - BHRTADVSIP emerged victorious in one seat.

Home Minister Narottam Mishra lost from Datia seat by a margin of 7,742 votes to Congress candidate Rajendra Bharti.

Arvind Bhadoria from Ater lost to Congress' Hemant Satyadev Katare by 20228 votes.

Kamal Patel lost from Harda by just 870 votes to Congress candidate Dr Ramkishore Dogne.

Gaurishankar Bisen from Balaghat lost to Congress' candidate Anubha Munjare by 29195 votes.
Prem Singh Patel from Badwani lost to Congress candidate Rajan Mandloi by 11172 votes.

Mahendra Singh Sisodiya from Bamori lost to Rishi Agarwal by 14796 votes.

Rajvardhan Singh Dattigaon from Badnawar lost to Bhanwarsingh Shekhawat 'Babu Ji' by 2976 votes.

Bharat Singh Kushwaha from Gwalior Rural lost to Sahab Singh Gurjar by 3282 votes.
Ramkhelawan Patel lost to Dr RajendraKumar Singh from Amarpatan by 6490 votes.

Suresh Dhakad lost to Kailash Kushwah from Pohri by 49481 votes.
Ram Kishor Kawre too faced defeat from Paraswada to Madhu Bhau Bhagat by 25948 votes.

It has to be noted that Sisodiya and Dattigaon are close associates of Union civil aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. Dattigaon was defeated by Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat, who Shekhawat switched over to the Congress from BJP just ahead of the elections.

Besides, Rahul Singh Lodhi, nephew of former chief minister Uma Bharti, was trounced from Kharagpur. Another minister Ram Kishor Kawre too faced defeat from Paraswada.

BJP candidate Imarti Devi, also a Scindia loyalist candidate, lost from Dabra by 2,267 votes to Congress' Suresh Raje. Sitting BJP MP from Satna, Ganesh Singh, lost by 4,041 votes to Congress' Dabbu Siddharth Sukhlal Kushwaha.
