MP Horror: Couple's Picnic Turns Nightmare As Man Tied To Tree, Wife Gang-Raped By Assaulters
In Madhya radish's Rewa district, a couple at a picnic spot near a temple was attacked. The husband was tied to a tree while his wife was gang-raped. Her attackers filmed the assault and threatened to release the footage online if the couple reported it. This attack took place on October 21.
The police registered a case the following day, and some suspects have been detained.

Indore Rape Case
Meanwhile, in Indore, a neurodivergent woman was sexually assaulted by a daily wage worker.
CCTV footage showed the woman wandering, half-dressed and bleeding, in Sadar Bazaar around 3:45 am on Tuesday. Acting swiftly, police reviewed the footage and found she had been accosted earlier by a worker, now identified as Sonu.
The footage captured Sonu leading her to a waste treatment facility shortly before she was found. Police later confirmed that Sonu confessed to the assault.
Congress Slams BJP Over Women's Safety
Following the Indore incident, state Congress leader Jitu Patwari criticised the ruling BJP on X, saying, "The daughter is naked on the road (while) the Chief Minister is busy at an event," referring to the Ladli Behna Yojana, a women's welfare initiative launched by Shivraj Chouhan, the Chief Minister's predecessor, which was instrumental in helping the BJP secure last year's Assembly election.
Patwari also compared the scene in which the woman was found in Indore to the disrobing of Draupadi in the Mahabharata, asking, "Can't the Chief Minister who considers himself 'God' see the disrobing of Draupadi?" He added, "I am angry and worried at the plight of our daughters. Crimes against our daughters are not stopping, but the Chief Minister is sitting with his eyes closed."
In response, junior Minister Narendra Shivaji Patel noted that the accused in Indore had been arrested and stressed the BJP's commitment to handling such matters with sensitivity. "The law will teach the accused a lesson... they will not be spared."
Patel also highlighted the BJP government's focus on supporting neurodivergent individuals through the Social Justice and Welfare Department.
"Regardless of the city, the department is carrying out its responsibilities diligently," he said.
2023 Ujjain Rape Case
The Rewa and Indore cases have once again cast a spotlight on Madhya Pradesh, following a shocking incident from Ujjain last September. A young girl was raped and left bleeding on the streets, going from door to door seeking help, only to be repeatedly turned away.
For two hours, she was ignored by more than 500 homes and restaurants, as well as toll booth staff, until a temple priest found her, took her to hospital, and alerted the police.
