BJP Committee Member in MP Arrested for Misconduct with CM's Aide, Receives Bail

A Madhya Pradesh BJP working committee member received bail on Monday, following his arrest for allegedly causing a disturbance and misbehaving with the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav at a party event, according to a police officer. Hirendra Bahadur Singh was accused of hurling abuses and creating a ruckus at the BJP function held at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Good Governance and Policy Analysis on Saturday.

Incident Details

Naib Tehsildar Nimesh Pandey filed a police complaint against Singh, alleging that he misbehaved with Lokesh Sharma, the chief executive officer (CEO) of the institute and OSD to the CM. Sharma is also closely associated with Yadav. "We served Singh a notice after registering a case and summoned him to the police station on Sunday where we arrested him," said a police officer.

Singh faced charges of abusing, threatening, and attempting to obstruct a government officer from performing his duties. Kamla Nagar police station inspector Nirupa Pandey confirmed these charges. Singh was presented before the Assistant Commissioner of Police's court, which placed him in judicial custody.

Motivation Behind the Incident

The state BJP working committee member was reportedly upset over an issue concerning his daughter's job at a facility operated by the Madhya Pradesh government. After securing bail on Monday, Singh refrained from commenting on the matter, stating it was in line with the party's wishes. Sources close to him indicated he had been advised to remain silent about the incident.

In recent Lok Sabha elections, the BJP won all 29 seats in Madhya Pradesh. One reason attributed to this success was the excellent coordination between the party organisation and the state government.
