MP: Bhopal Grapples With Spate Of Child Sexual Abuse Cases
Within a span of just four days, Bhopal, the capital city of Madhya Pradesh, has been rocked by several distressing incidents of child sexual abuse, igniting widespread concern over child safety in educational spaces.
In one troubling instance, a 16-year-old student experienced sexual harassment at the hands of his chemistry teacher within the confines of a private school.

The teacher, exploiting his position, allegedly coerced the student by threatening to fail him and even went as far as to record inappropriate videos of the teenager.
The alarming matter came to light following the boy's unexpected low scores in an examination, prompting a conversation with his class teacher.
The subsequent disclosure of these events led to the involvement of the school's principal and, eventually, the local police. An FIR was lodged, culminating in the teacher's arrest and his subsequent remand to judicial custody after a court hearing.
In a separate, equally disturbing incident, a 5-year-old girl was reportedly abused by the person entrusted to drive her school van. After the child returned home in distress, her mother learned of the grievous act.
Despite the young girl's initial reluctance to divulge details to the police, the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) stepped in to schedule a counselling session to understand more about the incident.
The driver is currently held by police for interrogation, though formal charges have not been filed yet. Bhopal Police Commissioner, Harinarayanachari Mishra, has assured the public that the case is being pursued with the gravity it warrants.
Community Outrage and Official Response
Another heartbreaking case involved a 3-year-old girl who fell victim to her teacher at another private institution. Her mother discovered suspicious marks on her body, which she first thought were accidental.
It was only after her child referred to the abuser as "uncle" that the horrified parent approached the authorities. The teacher, identified as Qasim, was arrested following a medical examination of the child and his confession to the crime.
The public has responded with outrage to these incidents, demanding swift and decisive action to safeguard children in school settings.
Acknowledging the severity of the situation, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has condemned the acts vehemently and called for immediate investigations into each case. In a move to bolster the legal proceedings against such offenders, he announced the establishment of a special court designed to fast-track trials.
A further case in Tikamgarh adds to the distress, involving a 7-year-old girl assaulted by Ashish Tiwari, a local figure recently named as an MP representative by Union Minister Virendra Khatik.
The girl's mother's complaint led to Tiwari's dismissal by the Union Minister and a police case under the POCSO Act. However, Tiwari remains at large, adding pressure on authorities to tighten regulations and uphold accountability to prevent exploitation of minors.
