Move over Doklam, here’s Mission China
An Assamese film titled, Mission China, is getting released on Friday. The film is getting released in both Assam and Arunachal Pradesh on the same day. The budget of the film is pegged at Rs 2 crore.
Guwahati, Sep 7: China's obsession with India and vice versa is a well-known fact. Post-Doklam stand-off, we saw "friendly" meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese Premier Xi Jinping at the recently concluded ninth BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) Summit in the Chinese port city of Xiamen.
Modi and Jinping reaffirmed that it is in the interest of both India and China to have good relations. As all the border skirmishes and diplomatic tensions seem to have settled down a bit, an Assamese film, interestingly titled, Mission China, is creating waves across the Northeast region, especially in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh (which shares border with China in the Tawang region).

The film, produced, directed and acted by popular singer Zubeen Garg, is the first Assamese film to be released in both the states on the same day, this Friday.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, the distributor of the film, Goenka Enterprises, said it would be the first Assamese film to be released in Arunachal Pradesh. "It is scheduled for release on Friday. Altogether 52 cinema halls will screen the film in the two states," an official of Goenka Enterprises told The Telegraph.
As per reports, the pre-release bookings for the film are encouraging and audiences have shown great interest to watch the movie, starring one of their favourite celebrities, Garg.
"In the past few days, the team of the film got overwhelming support in their promotional events all over the state. So we are sure that this film will be the blockbuster of the year," said the official of Goenka Enterprises.
"We are hoping to get a huge response from the audience as well. The film will release in two theatres of Shillong and one theatre in Mirjuli of Arunachal Pradesh," one of the producers of the film told The Telegraph.
The film is stated to be the highest big budget film in the history of Assamese films. A sum of Rs 2 crore has been spent in the making of the film.
The amount of curiosity generated by the film across the Northeast region is an auspicious sign for the Assamese film industry which is almost on the verge of collapse due to various reasons, including lack of theatres screening Assamese films and a very few Assamese films being produced in a year, to name a few.
The film stated to be an action drama is about an army official, played by Garg, who, as per the trailer, gets involved in the rescue operation of a kidnapped girl child.
However, the trailer does not reveal much about the "Chinese" angle, as indicated by the film's title. Perhaps, one has to watch the film on Friday to know what kind of a "mission" to "China" Garg and his team are up to.
