Monsoon brings relief to Kerala's industries

Trivandrum, June 12:

, the southern most state, is known for its long

season. The south-west monsoon hit the state on June 6 and rains have brought a big relief to Kerala's agriculture sector and tourism industry.

The power sector in the state has also got a breath of life, thanks to the monsoons. The state depends mostly on hydro electricity.

Also, the monsoon have also brightened the tourism sector in the state. The number of domestic and foreign tourists whoc visit the state sees a surge during monsoons. The backwaters, beaches and the hill stations are all the more beautiful during the monsoon.

According to a NDTV report, Tourism Secretary Suman Billa said that during the monsoon season the state gets a good number of tourists from the Middle East and from the northern parts of the country as in the North the temperatures are very high at this time.
