Mohan Yadav, the BJP MLA from Ujjain South, will be the new Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, where the saffron outfit has retained power after the just-held assembly polls.

Yadav (58), an OBC leader, was elected as the BJP's legislature party leader in Madhya Pradesh at a meeting in Bhopal held in the evening in the presence of central observers.

Who Is Mohan Yadav?

Born in 1982, Mohan Yadav first made his mark in student politics as the Co-Secretary of Madhav Science College Students' Union. By 1984, he assumed the position of President of Madhav Science College Students' Union and had become a prominent face of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad in Ujjain.

Throughout the late 1980s, Yadav continued to climb the political ladder, holding significant positions such as the Department head of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad in Ujjain.

In the early 2000s, Yadav continued to contribute to the academic and civic spheres, serving as a Member of the Executive Council of Vikram University, Ujjain, and holding the position of Municipal District General Secretary. His commitment to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was evident as he became a Member of the State Executive Committee in 2004 and played a pivotal role in the Central Committee of Simhastha in Madhya Pradesh.

From 2004 to 2010, Yadav assumed the crucial position of Head of the Development Authority in Madhya Pradesh, demonstrating his keen interest in the state's progress.

Yadav's political journey reached new heights when he became a Cabinet Minister of Madhya Pradesh in 2011, showcasing his leadership and administrative skills. His electoral success was evident in 2013 and 2018 when he was elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Ujjain Dakshin constituency.

In July, Yadav became a Cabinet Minister in the Madhya Pradesh Government.

In 2023, emerged victorious from the Ujjain Dakshin constituency again.
