Gurez sector is the gateway of Gilgit-Baltistan area.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday celebrated Diwali with the troops of 15 Corps in Gurez Sector along Line of Control (LoC) in North Kashmir's Bandipora district.
Modi exchanges Diwali sweets with Jawans
Modi reached Srinagar and was received by Army Chief General Bipin Rawat who was camping in the Gurez sector since Wednesday. He later offered sweets and exchanged greetings with the jawans in J&K.
Jawans are my family
Addressing jawans, Modi said he too wishes to spend Diwali with his family. Therefore, he had come among jawans, whom he considers his family. Modi also said he gets new energy when he spends time among jawans & soldiers. He appreciated their penance & sacrifice, amid harsh conditions

President Kovind, PM Modi greet nation on Diwali
Earlier in the day, Modi took to Twitter and extended Diwali greetings to the countrymen.
Meanwhile, President Ram Nath Kovind also greeted the nation on Diwali. "Diwali greetings to all. As we celebrate with our families, let us promote sensitivity to others and to our environment," the President tweeted on his official handle.
Diwali, also known as Deepavali, is a major Hindu festival celebrated with much fervour across the country.
Popularly known as the festival of lights, Diwali is also celebrated by Hindus in Nepal, Malaysia, Mauritius and Pakistan.
