Modi trains gun at UPA for inaction against black money hoarders

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said there was delay in acting against black money hoarders during the previous UPA regime.

Panaji, Nov 13 In a veiled attack on the previous Congress-led UPA Government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said there was delay in acting against black money hoarders.

Speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of Greenfield airport at Mopa plateau in Goa, the Prime Minister termed demonetisation of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 notes as an "important step towards eradicating corruption and black money".

"Something had to be done to tackle the menace of black money. Ye kaam pehle wali sarkar taalti rahi (Previous government kept delaying this), he said.

He said the BJP-led government was voted to power by people to free the nation of corruption and black money menace.

"We are not going to spare anyone who has black money stashed," he further said.

The Prime Minister also thanked former Goa chief minister Manohar Parrikar for transforming the state into a modern and digitally driven state.

He said the new airport at Mopa plateau would give tremendous impetus to tourism in the state.

He further lauded Parrikar for bringing political stability in Goa.
