Owaisi Asserts Modi and Kejriwal Are Two Sides of the Same Coin in Delhi Election Campaign

Asaduddin Owaisi, the AIMIM President, remarked on Thursday that there is little distinction between AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He suggested they share similar ideologies, stating, "Modi and Kejriwal are like brothers, two sides of the same coin. Both have emerged from the RSS ideology — one from its shakha and the other from its institutions," while campaigning for Shifa-ur-Rehman in Okhla.

Owaisi: Modi and Kejriwal Are Alike

Owaisi also visited Shaheen Bagh, encouraging voters to support his party's symbol, the kite, in the Delhi elections on February 5. The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen has nominated two candidates: Tahir Hussain for Mustafabad and Shifa-ur-Rehman for Okhla. Both candidates are currently incarcerated due to their involvement in the 2020 Delhi riots cases.

Judicial Bias Allegations

Tahir Hussain, previously an Aam Aadmi Party councillor, joined AIMIM last December after being jailed. During his speech, Owaisi questioned Kejriwal and his party, alleging unfairness in the judicial process. He asked why Kejriwal received bail in the liquor policy case while Hussain and Rehman remain imprisoned for five years. "All his leaders, including Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, have secured bail, but these two are still behind bars. What is their fault?" he said.

Owaisi criticised Kejriwal for neglecting development in Okhla. He pointed out that while other areas see progress, Okhla has become a "mountain of garbage" under AAP's rule. He claimed that people welcome him with flowers when he visits but would throw slippers at Kejriwal if he passed through.

BJP's Prospects in Okhla

Owaisi asserted that the BJP has never won in Okhla and predicted it would not succeed this time either. He expressed confidence that the BJP would not secure a victory in the upcoming election. The results of the polls are scheduled to be announced on February 8.
