Modi Govt Committed To Eradicate Maoism In Chhattisgarh By 2026: Home Minister Amit Shah
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has declared that both the central government and Chhattisgarh's administration are dedicated to eradicating Maoism in the state by March 31, 2026. This statement was made during the President's Colour Award ceremony at Raipur's police parade ground.
Shah praised the Chhattisgarh police for their achievements in tackling Maoism over the past year. He noted that 287 Maoists were neutralised, 1,000 were arrested, and 837 surrendered. These efforts have significantly reduced Naxal violence in the region.

Progress Against Maoism
The Union Home Minister highlighted that for the first time in four decades, deaths from Naxal violence have dropped below 100 for both civilians and security forces. Shah credited this success to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership and the collaboration between state police and national security forces.
Shah also commended Chhattisgarh's rehabilitation policy for Maoists. He urged those involved in insurgency to abandon violence and reintegrate into society. He encouraged them to take advantage of the state's surrender policy to aid regional development.
Recognition and Encouragement
The President's Colour Award is a significant honour recognising service and sacrifice. Shah stated that it serves as a morale booster for Chhattisgarh police, who will proudly wear this prestigious insignia in the coming days.
"Once Chhattisgarh is free of Maoism, the entire country would benefit from the reduction of the menace," said Shah. He emphasised that eliminating Maoism from Chhattisgarh would positively impact India as a whole.
Shah expressed optimism about completely eradicating Naxalism from Chhattisgarh before March 31, 2026. He believes that with continued efforts, this goal is achievable within the set timeframe.
