Independent MLA P V Anvar Critiques Kerala CM and Left Front Over Gold Smuggling Allegations
Independent MLA P V Anvar criticised Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, the ruling Left Front, and the Kerala police. He accused them of labelling him communal instead of addressing the issues he raised. Anvar had previously urged Vijayan to reinvestigate around 180 gold smuggling cases under a sitting judge's supervision, alleging improper police procedures in seizing illegally imported gold.

Anvar, speaking in Nilambur, claimed that 25% of Kerala's police force is criminalised and reiterated his concerns about smuggled gold seizures. He argued that when someone raises an issue, their religion becomes the focus instead of the matter itself. "Baseless allegations are being raised to target me as a communalist," Anvar stated, emphasising his secular stance.
Allegations Against Police and Political Figures
Anvar expressed disappointment over the lack of action from the government and the Left party regarding evidence he submitted against the gold smuggling network. He alleged that his financial losses and business setbacks were due to his support for the Left party and state residents. "I have resisted all unnecessary allegations against the Left government for eight years as an MLA," he said.
Anvar also criticised ADGP Law and Order M R Ajithkumar and P Sasi, the chief minister's political secretary. Earlier this week, CPIM state secretary M V Govindan announced that the party had severed ties with Anvar. Chief Minister Vijayan dismissed Anvar's allegations against the party, LDF, and government as attempts to tarnish their reputation.
Concerns Over Communal Tensions
In his lengthy speech, Anvar warned that the Sangh Parivar aims to gain power by 2036. He predicted they would secure at least 20 seats in the 2026 Assembly election, gradually working towards their goal. "They are not in a hurry. They are going slow and steady," he remarked.
Anvar voiced concerns about communal riots' detrimental effects on society. He urged people to consider the situation in north Indian states affected by such violence to grasp its severity. "Communal riots were not good for any society," he said.
Anvar expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of support from both his party and Chief Minister Vijayan, whom he viewed as a father figure. Despite facing numerous challenges, Anvar remains committed to his cause and continues to advocate for justice within Kerala's political landscape.
