Maharashtra Shocker: Minor girl raped in Thane

Thane, Oct 6: A seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped by an unidentified man in the powerloom town of Bhiwandi here, police said today. The incident took place on Saturday night, when the victim, a resident of Jaitunpura had set out of her house to purchase biscuits, PI S B Shendge of Bhiwandi city police station told PTI.

The accused asked the girl to show him the way to Quatergate Masjid and then took her to an isolated place near a gowdown, where he allegedly raped her, police said.

A police complaint was filed by her parents in the wee hours of Sunday after the girl found her way back home and narrated the incident to them.

The police have registered an offence under section 376 363, 506 of the IPC and sections 3(a),4 and 6 of the POSCA Act 2012 against the absconding accused.
