NDFB militant killed in joint operation by Army, police in Assam

A suspected National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) militant was gunned down in a joint operation by Army and Assam Police in Kokrajhar district on Tuesday. One AK 47 rifle, ammunition and grenade were recovered from the site.
The encounter took place at Bansbari village under Panbari police station limits, a defence spokesman said.

"Based on intelligence inputs, a joint operation was launched by the Army and Assam Police on Monday night in the area. Around 6 am today morning, the patrol party was fired upon. Our troops retaliated with controlled fire and in the gunbattle, a terrorist was killed,", The Times of India quoted a Guwahati based defence spokesperson as saying.
Combing operations were continuing, the spokesman said.
