Militant, jawan killed as troops foil infiltration bid
Jammu, Oct 14: A militant and an army jawan were killed today in a gunbattle near the Line of Control (LoC) as troops foiled a bid by ultras to infiltrate into Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
Defence Ministry spokesman said army detected some suspicious movement of a group of militants along the LoC in Krishnagati sector at around 1500 hours today.

The army confronted the infiltrating terrorists who opened fire, critically injuring Lance Naik Govind Singh, Defence Spokesman S N Acharya said. Govind Singh died enroute to hospital, Acharya added.
During the ensuing gunbattle, troops killed a terrorist and recovered his body, he said. The area has been cordoned off and the operation was still going on when the reports last came from the area, Acharya said.
