Microsoft Windows Outage: How To Fix Blue Screen Errors And Prevent Laptop Shutdowns
The global Microsoft outage has wreaked havoc across multiple sectors, affecting major banks, media outlets, airports, and airlines worldwide.
Payment systems have been impacted in various parts of the world, including Australia and the UK. The Australian government has called for an emergency meeting to address the crisis. Significant disruptions to Microsoft services have been reported, and 911 services have been disrupted in several US states, including Alaska, Arizona, Indiana, Minnesota, New Hampshire, and Ohio.

The London Stock Exchange's services have been interrupted, and Sky News is off the air. Initial reports suggest the issue may be related to a problem at the global cybersecurity firm Crowdstrike.
In India, three airlines-IndiGo, SpiceJet, and Akasa Air-are facing technical problems that affect booking, check-in, and flight updates, forcing them to manually check in passengers.
According to Microsoft's Service Health Status updates, the preliminary root cause is "a configuration change in a portion of our Azure backend workloads (that has) caused interruption between storage and compute resources, resulting in connectivity failures." This issue has affected "downstream (and dependent) Microsoft 365 services," the company stated.
In a thread on X, Microsoft explained it is "investigating an issue impacting users' ability to access various Microsoft 365 apps and services." The company added, "We're working on rerouting impacted traffic to alternate systems to alleviate the impact more expediently. We're still observing a positive trend in service availability as we continue to redirect impacted traffic. We expect users will continue to see gradual relief as we mitigate the issue."
The tech giant noted that services are seeing "continuous improvements while we continue to take mitigation actions."
To work around the Microsoft outage, follow these steps:
- Boot Windows into Safe Mode or the Windows Recovery Environment.
- Go to the directory C:\Windows\System32\drivers\CrowdStrike.
- Find and delete the file named C-00000291*.sys.
- Restart the host normally.
