BMTC, KSRTC strike: Metro comes to commuters' rescue
Bengaluru, July 25: While a two-day bus strike has forced schools and colleges to be shut across the state, the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has come to the rescue of passengers by increasing the frequency of trains.
Chief Public Relation Officer of the BMRCL, UA Vasanth Rao, who spoke to OneIndia, said: "We have decided to increase train frequencies to every 5 minutes as opposed to the regular 15 minutes as of now."

"Since BMTC buses will be off the roads for two days, people are flocking to the Metro stations. If the same demand or crowd continues, the same frequency of 5 minutes will be maintained between trains," he said.
Moreover, the BMRCL is mulling to extend the time of the last train. Vasanth Rao said: "We are mulling to extend the deadline to 11 PM. The normal deadline is 10 PM. If Metro officials feel that there is a need to extend the deadline, we will do so."
Metro is witnessing a rise in the new passengers as well as a demand for more trains. "Several people are preferring Metro as their mode of transportation as there are no buses available to commute," he told.
Even a slight slip in the demand for Metro, the time gap between trains will be decreased to 6 minutes and normal deadline will be maintained.
